Lommel is a fireproofed city!
The city of Lommel is aware of the importance of well thought-out fire protection and good training of the staff. Together with Safety4All, the city organizes annual fire protection and evacuation training. For years they work together with us on the fire protection files. “Lommel is one of the safest cities in terms of fire safety,” says Fons Beenaerts.
According to manager, Fons Beenaerts, from Safety4All, Lommel is a fireproofed city. “We meet many cities and towns in Flanders, but we think Lommel is one of the” best students in the class, if not the best.”
Tom Vandenboer is responsible for fire safety as security officer for the city, the welfare organization (OCMW) and the Lommel police department. “Fons and I have been working together for years on fire positioning plans, fire safety analysis and internal emergency plans.” For several years, Safety4All has been providing training for firefighters and organizing evacuation exercises, which is always very professional. “9 of 10 is not an exaggerated mark. They make clear agreements and follow them actually. They are very flexible and think about possible solutions.”
The staff is enthusiastic about the training, sometimes a bit too much. “During the police evacuation exercise, a member of the intervention team was so engrossed in the scenario that he suddenly opened the fire hose,” says Tom Vandenboer. Also from other points of view, there are positive reviews. “The director of our nursing homes was very positive about the professional commitment of Safety4All and we will certainly continue to work with them for our fire-safe city in the future!”
